This art-filled book is respectfully dedicated to all the persons whose names are carved in granite, marble, glass and bronze on these 40 acres adorned with signature buildings by three of the most influential architects of our time: Philip Johnson , Richard Neutra, and Richard Meier, This was a two year photography project and I am proud to have shared some of the pages with an icon of architectural photography, the late Julius Shulman.

A CENTURY OF STEWARTSHIP

Watson Land Company’s rich history extends more than 200 years back to the Rancho San Pedro, the first piece of land granted to a private citizen in Southern California. In 1784, King Carlos III of Spain granted the 75,000-acre tract of land to Spanish soldier Juan Jose Dominguez which marked the birth of what is known today as Watson Land Company. This book chronicles the last century of this amazing story and Costea Photography contributed most of the modern era photographs within.
